My name is Stella Bonilla and I am a violin instructor, chamber music coach, and conductor with over 30 years of professional experience. I currently teach a private violin studio encompassing students from Menlo Park, Palo Alto and Mountain View area, and I serve as a Chamber Music Coach at the Palo Alto School of Chamber Music.
My students regularly earn placements in the Golden State Youth Orchestra and other regional youth ensembles, and they consistently achieve high marks on ABRSM examinations. My teaching background includes previous faculty positions at Opus 1
Music, the Community School of Music and Arts, and the Google Corporate Music Program. In addition to studio teaching, I have directed youth ensembles across the United States, serving as Music Director of the Lafayette Youth Orchestra and conducting for the San
Jose Chamber Youth Orchestra and the Akron Youth Symphony.
My pedagogical work is supported by an active performance career with ensembles including Opera San José, the Berkeley Symphony Chorus Orchestra, and the Akron Symphony Orchestra. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting and a
Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, with degrees from Louisiana State University and the State Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria.
