Master Level Instruments
Violins, violas, and cellos in our “Master” Instrument class demonstrate the highest level of build and tone quality. Traditionally, Master instruments are created start to finish by a single master builder using the best tonewoods accessible. Like great builders of the past, the modern master luthier is specially trained, highly skilled, and experienced in the craft. Higher-valued new and older, more collectible instruments are found in the “Master” instrument classification.
Workshop Instruments
Workshop instruments are traditionally built by a small group of craftsmen, typically supervised by an experienced Master luthier. Instruments in our “Workshop” classification are made in China, Romania, Germany, and Poland. These are high-quality instruments that span a price range appropriate for a wide variety of players, from students to amateur enthusiasts.
Shop Label Instruments
Instruments bearing the Heaney Violins shop label are hand-selected from our many student instrument vendors. Only after careful setup and adjustment is a Heaney Violins shop label affixed to the inside of instruments in the “Shop Label” classification. These are highly playable instruments meant for beginners or new students.
