Teacher Miya is a talented violin instructor with a diverse background and extensive musical expertise. Holding a B.A. in Musical Studies and East Asian Studies from Oberlin College as well as a B.M. in Contemporary Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music, Miya's teaching approach is uniquely comprehensive.
Miya has served as Concertmaster at the Oberlin Art and Science Orchestra (2018-2020) and as the first violin in Quartet au Lait (Berklee^MIT). She has recorded over 50 pieces for screen scores, bands, and commercial songs, showcasing her versatility beyond classical settings. Having achieved the highest level of the Chinese Musicians Associations Violin Exam at the tender age of 11, Miya embarked on a journey beyond classical music, delving into the realm of composing and producing her own musical creations.
With over 10 years of teaching experience, Miya has guided students aged 5 to 40, nurturing their development from beginners to intermediate levels. Fluent in both English and Mandarin, she offers bilingual instruction and her proficiency in Korean and Japanese adds a multicultural dimension to her teaching, enhancing the learning experience. Her teaching style combines technical precision with a deep appreciation for musical artistry.
