He received his Bachelor of Music (SFCM) studying with Bettina Mussumeli, who trained under the legendary Ivan Galamian. John has also studied with Dr. David Mallory, prior concertmaster of the Munich Symphony Orchestra.
He has dedicated more than 25 years of his life to the violin, and has been teaching for over 15 years, including over 8 years as a dedicated violin & viola instructor at the Opus 1 Music Studio. John teaches violin and viola to students of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced performers.
His teaching approach draws on Alexander Technique, encouraging natural body movement, freedom of expression, and healthy playing habits. John emphasizes the importance of building proper technique, musicality, and confidence - helping each student find their own voice through music. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s individual goals, learning style, and pace.
John's students have achieved great success in auditions, performances and exams including: ABRSM, RCM, and Certificate of Merit. His students have won International Competitions including the Golden Classical Music Awards and the American Prodégé competition.
Above all, he strives to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students can grow as both musicians and individuals.
