Cellist Davis You joined the San Francisco Symphony in 2024. A Bay Area native, he began his studies with Irene Sharp and Jonathan Koh before earning his Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with Laurence Lesser and Paul Katz.

Davis is a prizewinner of several national competitions, including the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and has performed at major festivals across the United States. He has appeared on NPR’s From the Top radio show and has collaborated with internationally recognized artists and ensembles.

As a teacher, Davis works with students ages six and up. His students have earned top prizes at local and national competitions, including the National YoungArts Foundation and KAMSA, and have held leading positions in Bay Area youth orchestras and All-State ensembles.
